Response to Conejo guardian

This is my public response to the Conejo Guardian’s request for an interview.

On September 3rd, I received an email from Joel at the Conejo Guardian with an invitation to submit answers to questions as a CVUSD school board candidate, for a special election feature.

I am choosing to not submit answers as I do not believe the Conejo Guardian to be a legitimate news source.

I have personally read issues of the Guardian and have often been disturbed by its content. Distortion of facts can be dangerous. Whatever answers I might submit to this request would be in danger of manipulation and distortion based on what I know about the Conejo Guardian.

More than ever, it is important for our citizens to be able to distinguish between propaganda (Guardian) and true fact-based journalism. Questions such as “How is this publication funded?” and “Who is providing journalistic oversight?” come to mind. There is fact-based reporting here in the Conejo Valley: actual newspapers like the Acorn, Star, and Times.

I hope Conejo Valley voters will seek out facts as they prepare themselves for our upcoming election. I look forward to continuing to talk to voters and engage in forums and interviews with nonpartisan, ethical parties.
